High school can be a difficult transition for students, and they need adults to assist and advocate for them in a variety of ways. At Auto, this includes guidance counselors, Freshman Advisory, and other counseling services.
Guidance Counselors are assigned for four years, and work with both students and parents, including the student’s academic and social progress. They work closely with teachers, and others to ensure that students receive all the services they need, and can find good ways to resolve conflicts.
For 9th graders, Automotive also provides an advisory program, called “Pit Stop,” in which students meet weekly with volunteer faculty members. The goal of Pit Stop is for every student to be part of a positive peer group, to have another adult advocate, and to develop useful life and academic skills.
