Library Mission Statement

Our Library’s main mission is to promote a warm and welcoming environment to encourage students and teachers to visit the library often and become effective users of information and ideas. Our library promotes reading activities by giving students the chance to choose the type of reading materials they want. We encourage students to think about their own roles in our society, even as they help create it, and help them understand social issues by subjecting them to objective analysis. The librarian works closely with classroom teachers to plan research projects and teaching information literacy within the context of classroom activities.

The Library is open from 8:00 to 3:30, Monday through Friday. The teachers can schedule a class visit from any school day period for project research. The library is open at lunch, four periods a day, for students to do independent work, reading, use computers, and return and check out books. Class visits have priority over lunch recess. Students need a pass with a description of their project to come to the library during class session.

Goals and vision:

Our collection is cataloged and maintained by Destiny automation software. There is a two-week library materials loan period, with the option to renew three times. Patrons are asked to return materials promptly.
